Our Vision

Together, we desire to be a church of resilient disciples of Jesus, committed to bringing God's Kingdom whoever we are, wherever we go.

Our Values and Practices

What we believe, value and prioritise within our community and gatherings

Values

We value...

Generosity

Generosity is our response to God's extravagant love. We choose to be a hospitable community.

Authenticity

We are all on a journey. There are no experts here. We value an atmosphere where people are honest and real, communicating in truth and simplicity.

People

We value and love people, and recognise the God-given dignity of every person. We are careful to ensure that people do not become a means to an end, but are appreciated for who they are, and inspired to grow.

Practices

Word

We want Gateway people to be growing in their knowledge of, and obedience to the Bible, transformed and flourishing through the Word of God.

Worship

We want our people to be convinced of the value of, and who are developing in, a life of responsive praise and worship.

Prayer

We want to be a people with a deepening relationship with God and others through a lifestyle of prayer.

Spirit

We long to be a people who are growing in our ability to recognise and respond to the person and work of the Holy Spirit, who calls and empowers us for life.

Mission

We want people who are a part of Gateway to be people who are on a journey of identifying, receiving training and using the spiritual gifts that God has given them so that He is glorified and His Kingdom extended in and from New Zealand.

Statement of Faith

Trinity

We believe in the one true God, eternally existent in three persons, creator of heaven and earth.

 Bible

We believe the Bible is the authoritative and trustworthy Word of God in all matters of life, faith and conduct.

 Sin

We believe that because of humanity’s rebellion against God [sin], we are separated from Him.

 Salvation

We believe that Jesus suffered, was crucified, died, was buried and rose again. He then ascended to the Father’s right hand where he now reigns as Saviour of the world. Through his atoning sacrifice, humanity can now be reconciled to God.

 Justification

We believe humanity is justified by faith in Jesus as Saviour and Lord.

 Humanity

God created people in His image, male and female. Through His love, God invites us to share in His eternal life, worship Him and steward His creation.

 Church

We believe in the Church, the priesthood of all believers, the unity of all followers of Jesus empowered by the Holy Spirit. As the people of God, we are called to reflect God’s character to the world, through the proclamation of the Gospel, formation of disciples, caring for the marginalised and continual worship of God.

 The Gifts

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit and that the church should move in gifts of the Holy Spirit, as in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10

 Second Coming

Jesus Christ will physically and visibly return to earth for the second time to establish His Kingdom. This will occur at a date undisclosed by the Scripture.
